I worked as a Maternal Infant Health nurse for over 2 years with Toronto Public Health. Much of my time was devoted between the breastfeeding clinic at Toronto East General Hospital and teaching prenatal classes in community centres. I was trained specifically in Maternal Infant Health and became certified as an Advanced Lactation & Management nurse.
I left Toronto Public Health and traveled to Nepal where I volunteered in the Maternity ward at the Chitwan Medical College and Teaching Hospital. I trained staff about breastfeeding and provided breastfeeding support to the patients.
I became a certified First Aid and CPR instructor after realizing the importance of being able to share basic life saving skills while working with families in the community.
YOGA TRAINING BACKGROUND
I started practicing yoga at Downward Dog Yoga Centre in 2006 and have never stopped since. Downward Dog has been a valuable source of knowledge and learning and continues to be my go to place for classes. I also regularly do a self practice at home to deepen my personal growth and refine my teaching skills.
In 2015, I completed the 200 hour yoga teacher training program at Downward Dog and subsequently traveled to Kerala, India where I stayed in an Ayurvedic Ashram for a month.
In 2017, I completed the 85 hour prenatal yoga teacher training with Sasha Padron at Yoga Space in Toronto.
